Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture will present the current Gypsum Creek Recreation Area Master Plan on Wednesday, March 26, at 6 o’clock, in Town Hall Council Chamber, 50 Lundgren Blvd.
Members of Town Council and staff, representatives from Mountain Rec and the golf course, and the GCRA planning team will be there to walk the community through the current plan and answer your questions.
Master Plan Timeline:
The Master Plan is set to be finalized and delivered to the Town in May 2025. Upcoming milestones include:
Community Survey to gather feedback will be available in April and May
Town Council will discuss the Master Plan and Community Survey results on May 13
Further community outreach and engagement will take place during the summer
Town Council will make a final decision in early August about placing a question on the 2025 ballot
The Gypsum Creek Recreation Area Masterplan process started in 2022 with a Conceptual Study guided by a steering committee that included members of Town Council, Town staff and Mountain Recreation staff. The plan also included community feedback gathered at a public meeting.
The Town has contracted with Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture for both phases of this project. Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture is a highly accomplished firm that specializes in recreational master planning and landscape design. They also designed the Gypsum Recreation Center and the Gypsum Public Library.
In 2023, the Town advanced to a master planning phase to develop more detailed plans for the improvements identified in the Conceptual Study, as well as construction timelines and budget estimates. The priorities identified for the master plan included:
Developing areas that could provide non-golf recreation options for gathering, shade, seating, play activities, gardening, food, games, fitness and pickleball
Providing options for a new pool and potentially relocating the outdoor pool
Retrofitting the pool house to house the pro shop
Constructing golf cart storage
Building a community pavilion
Remodeling the clubhouse to expand the kitchen and restaurant
